Graal earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology with concentration in Drama Therapy from California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Catholic University in Goiania, Brazil.She initiated working in the field of psychology in 1998, back in Brazil, as a psychologist/ psychoanalyst for the State’s General Office of Education, where she had a chance to work with youths and their families. In 2000 she was invited to work as an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department of Catholic University in Goiania, Brazil; at the same time frame she began her work in private practice.While pursuing her M.A. Degree she completed an internship at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, CA where she implemented drama therapy techniques and psychoanalysis to work with individuals and groups of adolescents, adults and elderly diagnosed with major depressive disorders, eating disorders, psychoses, dual diagnosis and dealing with issues of death and dying. After graduating she created and implemented a work of emotional support for immigrant families living in San Francisco and Bay Area, CA.

 

Over the past five years she has been working with individuals, groups, couples and families; in private practice and in treatment facilities, combining her psychoanalytical background with the systematic and intentional use of drama and theater processes to further emotional growth, psychological integration and spiritual awareness.
